Well, I went from a 645 to an M6, both verts. Bought 2014 M6 secondhand in Feb 2016, and have to say it puts a smile on my face every time I go out in it! Yes, it does still feel like a new (secondhand) car to me. Mine's completely bog standard, but the exhaust note is quite different from the 645 - sound is awesome!

I get 350 to 400 miles per tank for mixed driving. If you do a lot of town driving or continually boot it, that will drop the mpg significantly. So yes, in those circumstances it could be classed as thirsty.

The M suspension makes the car marginally stiffer than the 645, but I have done 250 mile + journeys and felt fresh and relaxed at the other end.

As an M car, it will naturally draw more attention, and you may find your insurance increases over a 640 for example.

Not sure I entirely agree with Rexpontius comment. Mine has over 31000 miles on the clock, and has not needed any attention other than normal servicing.

Go for the M6 - you might regret it if you don't!
