Seattle used to have a pizza pub called Pete's just north of the U District. AMAZING calzones, the disrespected step-child to pizza. I never found a memorable place in Portland, Philadelphia, or south Jersey. John's in NYC just outside Time's Square was a family favorite when we hosted visits. It was in a refurbished/ abandoned cathedral.
