My CarPlay box activates by pressing either 3 or 8.
So my setup is 3 has no preset, but 8 has a preset to AUX. That way I can choose to continue playing radio by pressing 3 or switch to AUX automatically when going into CarPlay by pressing 8.
I also discovered later that pressing MODE on the steering wheel lets me switch between the radio and aux so I use that sometimes too.
