I'm NOT saying this just in case my wife ever reads these
but there has never been a rellono to come even remotely close to what she and her sisters make.
When my (Irish) mom used to make chile relleno casserole, it set me off to ever want to consider relleno. But then one day it was that or nothing, so I was introduced to the real thing.
My mom layered a glass pan with egg mixture and sliced green chiles from a can, if that's any indication of just how different it was.
