Story: In the late 90's, my mum served two terms as a military OR nurse during the Balkan War.

So when I knew he would come home after a day at the Squadron, I would prepare his meal. I would even run to the PX to get sausages and a can of Campbell Cream of Tomato Soup with money from my allowance if there wasn't any at home.
But he wasn't stupid and saw right through me. " What did you do?"
I was making myself as small as possible. First I showed him my report card. All A's... Then... the note from the Principal advising him that I was expelled for a day for getting into a fight and beating-up boys.
All through this, he was eating, reading and moving his head in a sideways and serious fashion.
" Needs more pepper."

My father would have said “That’s my girl, he must have deserved it”.
When I was a kid, maybe 8, there was a bully on the block that used to pick on my younger brother who was maybe 5 at the time. He made the mistake of hitting my brother. I went to his house, rang the bell and asked his mother if Scott could come out and play. When he came to the door, I dragged him down the steps and beat the shit out of him. He never picked on my brother again.
I’m having leftover something for dinner. Long day. Left home at 6:00am and just got home from work. Not even hungry.
