I have a 2017 M6 coupe as well and I find it to be a comfortable ride. I put it on comfort setting for regular street driving and it rides fine. At times it may be a little hard due to potholes and uneven surfaces. But I can drive it daily without any complaints. I too was like you expecting a "hard" ride. To my joy I find it very drive able and very happy with the ride. On the freeways I like to sharpen up the ride so I will put it on sport or sport plus. Just my thoughts.
