If it was me I would do the PPI (remote so you see how it checks out). I have bought many cars too sight unseen (well fly in, ensure it checks out, and road trip back) too.

A buddy of mine just had his carbon ceramic PADS changed and was quoted ~$600 from the dealership. The ROTORS on the other hand are ~$2.5 to $4k each.
