The original Motor1 article and the latest Autocar article mention the iX3 and it's 282hp RWD drivetrain. The second Motor1 article mentions more modest drivetrains, specifically highlighting FWD for the entry level model, not RWD. The latter outputs are also consistent with ynguldyn's information, and are far more likely to be correct IMHO.
This is one area where BMW's "one platform" strategy leaves them a bit exposed. Contrast with VAG's small dedicated MEB EV platform where the default is RWD. Now, its true that each feature dual motor setups in up-level models. And it's also true that, since there's no front biased, on demand only Haldex system in play in an AWD EV using a FWD platform, differences in dynamics will be less drastic than those between comparable FWD-based and RWD-based AWD ICE vehicles. Nevertheless, it's still a miss for a premium automaker like BMW.
