not quite the same thing, but I went from an m550d (remapped to 400+ bhp) to a 650 gran coupe (also remapped).
Despite the fact that the diesel is also very powerful, the whole sensation of the twin turbo V8 makes for a totally different driving experience.
It puts a smile on my face every day.
It is not all good news though, the V8 needs significanty more attention than the very robust inline 6 diesel. It is also way more thirsty. I average 15 liters / 100 km.
