Comp vs non comp

Time is coming to upgrade to an m6 in some guise or another, I'm wondering is the competition worth the extra and what are the actual differences, also what identifies the car as a competition? Have saw a couple advertised on autotrader as comps but with no exterior markings.

Is a comp more or less tuneable? As it's the same engine with more power no?

Looking to change in April, but one has caught my eye today..
