One of the major advantages of racing is the ability of the racers to develop and refine the cars to go as fast as possible within the set of rules that the governing body has prescribed. As safe limits are exceeded the rules are adjusted to keep the participants as safe as possible. To freeze the power units would handcuff the brilliant minds that are now able to extract unreal amounts of power through development. Cost being probably the largest factor should not be allowed to stop development in racing that trickles down to all the cars that we enjoy driving on the road today. It would great to see 20 cars being competitive every week but freezing engine development will not do it.
