I went down to the dealer for a road test and it does have a different feel than the 650. It is very powerful and all that extra torque is noticeable. However, the car feels heavier and in many ways, the 650 is just as luxurious and is a better drivers car with a more nimble feel.

They are different cars somewhat yes. That said with mods the 650i can be more powerful/faster. Install a tune, dps, flash the tranny with xHP, etc and for a little more than $5k you'll be way ahead.
