I built all manner of plastic models - Revell, Pactra, AMT. I also kept a miniature balsa wood lumber yard in my closet. Spur-of-the-moment I'd build a fort, a covered bridge, a cabin, a livestock body for a model truck I was working on - whatever I could build with what I had on hand. In Minnesota we have lots of time indoors in the winter. It paid to keep materials on hand to accomodate our creative urges.

Ah yes!!
A fire hazard to be sure! We built airplanes, cars, and don't forget N and O Gauge trains. I loved those.
And Lego. Not the prebuilt BS they have now. I mean 2000 piece kits and nothing but your imagination. I'd build space fleets, moon bases, and a million other things!
