Oil Filter Housing and Plug torque specs???
Hello All,
Can anyone tell me what the oil filter plug and oil filter housing torque specs are supposed to be? I'm trying to change the oil in our 2018 650i rwd(n63tu engine) but I cannot find torque specs on it, otherwise odd? I found one chart that seems authoritative but the torques specs and procedures seem high/odd?
If I use the chart for "F06, F07 without AWD" it gives me the following specs/procedures.
"Capacity......10qts, 9.5 liters". I'm confident that is correct.
"Drain plug....25Nm". This would seem correct but please confirm.
"Torque Spec: Oil Filter Cap........Initial torque: 30Nm/Release torque through 180 degree turn counter clockwise/Final torque : 40Nm/Cap drain plug: 10Nm". What in the world is this all about? Am I supposed to torque the oil filter housing 30Nm then turn it counter clockwise 180 degrees and then re-torque to 40Nm? What is the 10Nm designation?
Your help is much appreciated.
God Bless,
Ralph
