My buddy that has been a master tech at BMW for over 10 years has told me that our cars are pretty solid cars. Of course there is small annoying things that can happen and are common issues like most cars but can be easily fixed.

But you need to understand these cars were like $130k + MSRP, so parts, even doing yourself are pretty pricey, so put that in consideration. Even do your own oil change will cost you about $120 bucks with OEM oil and filter. Dealership will want like 4 times that. So I would factor all that in as well.

All that being said, I have a 2014 with 60k miles. I only needed to replace plugs and 1 coil but generally plugs should be replaced at that time. I got the infamous Drive train malfunction, but it was either the #6 coil or plugs to just replaced all plugs and coil, which was only like $200 bucks in parts
