I grew up on a ~200 acre ranch/farm but then moved away to school and then worked in big cities (and deployed to foreign countries). At first, I was excited about living the city life and made the most of it (girls, mostly
) but it didn't take long for me to want the freedom of actually owning land again: privacy, not being able hear neighbors arguing or partying, sirens, punks with loud stereos thumping down the street at all hours... etc.
And being able to shoot, any time, day or night. So I'm back in the 'sticks' with just enough acreage that I can't see my nearest neighbors (maybe a little in the winter when there's no leaves). At this point in my life, I can't imagine living in a city or suburb. I cringe at the thought.
