I assume that the password is encrypted in the database so you can't check it, and would not rule that out for having a bad character either entered by the user or as an artifact of the character encoding thing with the database that was discovered a few days ago.
Would it be worth asking @parked_comp to try changing his password to one that only contains letters and numbers using whatever system lets him in, to test if it fixes the problem everywhere?????
