I would not sell the car. As these are pricey to rebuild you would take a big hit to make it worth someones time.
My car somehow chipped a piston at 40k miles. I weighed my options. After some thinking I also ended up going with RK. I chatted with RK and knew what I wanted. I had a local shop handle everything for me. Dropped the car off and they took care of everything. Communication with RK including shipping the motor out and all. If you want to keep your original motor RK should be able to rebuild yours if you send it to them.
