I've been called an asshole, but it's usually after I say/do something sarcastic or poke fun in a flirty way and they say "you're such an asshole" with that smile and cute laugh.  If they yell it or look serious then yes, you are an asshole... or a dick.
There is a big difference between being flirty and poking fun at someone/challenging them mentally versus just insulting them or making them feel uncomfortable. |
THIS. My Louisiana guy likes to tease me and scare me after we watch a scary movie and I'll call him an asshole when he pops out from around the corner to scare me, but it's all in good fun.
