well 123,1 mph isnt bad at all, taking in considaration the wheelspin up to 60mph... It just shows the power of the engine in combination with the gearbox on the 3 digits..

GTR is ridiculous just pulls like a freight train! Thought the M6 would have done a little better.

Got beat by the E63 wagon too. However, while AWD helps with launch, it also has more drivetrain loss, you can see M6 has a higher trap speed, it is catching up.

Don't think it can overtake the GTR but should out run the E63, eventually.

Strange that when they tested the M5, it was faster in the quarter mile... 11.7 compared to 12.1.

The AMG surprised me. How sad is that. A wagon. But it did good overall. A little disappointing

The big AMGs don’t mess around, huge wtq numbers, so I’m not too surprised there. However many years later, I’m still astounded by how quickly the R35 hooks from a dig. Just ridiculous amounts of grip. I’d say a respectable showing from the M6 for sure.

Wagon beat M6. I would love one of those family movers in my stable.

Drivers and road conditions/temp can vary results widely. If you want to compare qtr times, side by side (with competent drivers) is about the only way. In every side by side I've seen, viewed or read about the M6 has been faster than the M5.

I've seen 0-60 times for the M6 vary from 3.7 sec to 4.3 sec, again the impact of drivers, temps and road conditions.

However it did get squashed by the AMG wagon and crossed the line at about the same time as a Jag...

I'm personally disappointed with the M6. Having seen it here in action and personally taking it for a bit of a test drive.

If you look at the actual competition for BDC, it finished 10th. The only cars beaten by the M6 where the SRT Viper (which was literally falling apart during the contest) and the Ford Focus ST!

"Unfortunately for the M6, there's no mechanical issue to blame for its standing. Save some significant brake fade on the track, the M6 functioned exactly as it was designed. Assuming, of course, that BMW intended to design a car that is too heavy, too complicated, and unable to put the power down."

"Like the rest of us, though, Randy had trouble finding other nice things to say about how the M6 drove. "Driving the car fast ends up being a lot of work," he reported. "It's kind of like a feeling of wrestling, and it's not a finely balanced car through the corners. You're using both hands and working it, and it's just not on the level of M cars that I'm used to seeing in terms of handling." It was the same report from the road. Judges dinged the M6 for being too heavy and unsettled in corners. Moreover, the car felt numb and isolating, like there was always a barrier between you and the road. Loh described it thus: "The M6 tunes out nearly every chassis response, and then tries to dial it back in to your liking." Ah, but there's a button for that, isn't there? Actually, there are about a hundred of them. The M6 offers a wide range of options for fine-tuning the car's various computers to dial in performance for any given situation. On its face, this seems like a good thing. In practice, you end up fiddling with settings forever. We calculated 125 possible combinations of throttle, suspension, transmission, and other settings. Somewhere around combination 26, you realize that none of them is really making the car much of a better driver's car, and you're just wasting time."

And my favorite:

"BMW's illustrious M division built its name on cars that were light, nimble, communicative, and begging to be driven as hard as possible. The M6 is the antithesis of that ethos."

Sha///Meful.

PS. The "wagon" finished 7th, ahead of the Aston and the Bentley.

Man that E63 rolls out! Hangin with the big boys! And I'm not sure if anyone else notices but it was driven by a woman. Can I buy that whole package from Merc?

Fun comparison!
