I really don't need the extra horses, but I do need the xDrive in the Northeast. And while price sensitivity should be less with this car, $10k is still $10k.

What gives?

You don't need xdrive in NJ, the easy and cheap option is a set of dedicated snow rims and tires. I drove my M6 for nearly 4 years as my daily drive in NY and in all conditions, ice, snow, etc and it never had an issue with my snow shoes on. I also had the 645ci prior as my daily drive, and again no issues with Snow tires....If you want the 640GC, just get it and buy a nice set of shoes for the winter.
