Arrow Latest BMW M6 Gran Coupe Preview Render

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Coming soon

Latest information from homepage:
Quote:
BMW has now finally officially acknowledged the model to be coming next year (US and worldwide). It will likely arrive as a 2014 model year and see its auto show debut at the 2013 NAIAS in Detroit or the 2013 Geneva show. Expect the first details of the car to be announced online by the end of this year.

The M6 Gran Coupe will be powered by the same S63Tu engine as the M5 and M6, but possibly be introduced with a bit more power than the 560hp of the M5/M6. Prototypes have been spotted testing with and benchmarked against M5s (video below). A 7 speed DCT transmission will be available and no word yet on a possible manual option. That decision probably lies with whether a manual will be made available for the M6 coupe and convertible (which they currently are not offered with).

The M6 Gran Coupe will feature the same front and rear design as the M6 Coupe and Convertible and will have a similar carbon fiber roof to the one on the M6 coupe (see our previous renders).

The M6 Gran Coupe's price will start north of $100,000 as the M6 coupe and convertible start at $106,995 and $113,995 USD. Expect the Gran Coupe's price to top both the coupe's and convertible's pricing.

Is that the Higgs Boson just left of the iDrive controller?

Beautiful photos!

Edit: It seems the title of this thread has changed. When I made this post, the title of the thread was 'Hadron Collider' ... Hence my comment at the time. Now, it makes no sense.

Given the quality of these renders and the car's predictable design (now that the 6-series GC and M6 coupe have both been released), I don't think there's anything about the styling of the forthcoming M6GC that's going to surprise anyone.

This would be my choice between the M5 and all the M6 cars. Give me one in S.O with black interior and we'll call it a day. Good job!

I was never a fan of the 6-series styling until this new model. The M cars look great.

My friend just got a 650i GC, and it is a beast. Probably the nicest interior of any car I've been in. With more power and performance, this car should be amazing.

Where??

And given the size of the 6 series, it really is more practical to just get the 6 look with 4 door functionality. I would also prefer the high mount third brake like in this render vs the tip of the trunk lid on the standard 6 (even though the render shows both).

This. Maybe small details here and there but would not be all that surprising if the render turned out to be what the production model looks like. Regardless, I don't think anyone would be too disappointed, the new 6 is just good looking.

Nice! Thanks H for the renders. I really like the car, but frankly it's too long to be M'ed

I think you're wrong. This is BMW Ms flagship model. Something has to make it better than an M6 ( or different) and I dont think 20 hp on a heavier car's going to do that.

@Kardboard
No I don't think this is BMW's flagship model. It may be the most expensive. But judging by BMW's recent name patent, there is a M1/M10 in the work.

Now I'm not pulling this out my ass: but I'm nearly positive this is going to be the M flagship model.

Jason and others will hopefully chime in and correct me or explain Ms special plans for the gran coupe.

Maybe Later in the future (8 years) the M1/M10 will be the new flagship model.

Scott26 just said that there are no plans for a supercar until 2016.

Yes this will be the Flagship //M, until the super is released.

The M6 Gran Coupe is indeed the flagship M car, but I doubt that's any reason to give it unique styling over the M6 coupe or convertible. Case in point, there's no design difference between the 6-series GC, the 6-series coupe, and the 6-series convertible. None. The fenders, bumpers, lights, hood, trunk, and virtually every other inch of the exterior not directly affected by the different kind of roof (hardtop vs. soft top) or number of doors (2 vs. 4) is exactly the same between the three body styles. Likewise, there's no design difference between the body panels of the M6 coupe and M6 convertible. I don't believe BMW will change this design language/logic with the M version of the Gran Coupe.

No disrespect but I hope you're wrong. Tuned up engine, unique wheels, spoiler that doesn't look like an after thought, maybe no carbon fiber roof option, slight bumper modifications. I'm just hoping they don't get lazy with this one.
