I'd gladly pay $10k more to NOT end up with this:

That's a pretty ugly Merc there...from that angle, looks like the arches up because the hood isn't long enough...

I agree, BMW has gone wacky with the pricing. I just spec'd out a CLS63 AMG and ticked the same options on the 640 GC configuration page. The AMG was only 3K more. Imagine what will have when the 650 GC comes let alone a M version.

That being said the GC definitely looks better.

from what i read before, the 650i xdrive gc is only like 0.2 seconds slower to 62 than the merc cls 63 AMG...

i'd say it's worth getting it just to say that to merc owners.

(i do think the new cls would be better looking than the 6er if it had different tail lights though - i hate to say that)

Uhh, configured it at 110,425...not every box checked yet. Comparably optioned CLS AMG costs less!

Link?

CLS550 was tested 0-60 in 4.2 by C&D the CLS AMG was 3.8.

The 650i xdrive will not be 4.0, not with 400 HP and that much weight. More like 4.4-4.5 using the same test methods.

I can't speak for times, I would only be speculating. But the 650 GC has 440 HP with the N63Tu engine. If memory serves, C&D got 4.5 from the 650i coupe with 400 HP.

If that is true the most that an extra 40 hp will take off the 0-60 time is 0.2 seconds making it 4.3 so around the same as a CLS550.

The GC is boring as hell.

The CLS is one of best looking cars in showrooms for any brand.

Pure Sex!

Umm...no.

The CLS63 is the same weight, if not couple lbs lighter. And has 100+hp more.

The Merc will murder the 650i GC.

The GC main rival is Panamera and it looks much better than it.
M6 GC has to be compared with Panamera Turbo S

Totally agree!
CLS is class with A7, not with GC.

I love the people commenting on the one photo of the CLS, you do know that there are plenty of angles where the GC looks ugly, right?

And since a CLS AMG compares more in price with the GC 640i, lets compare photos of those two, the AMG is just amazing looking, check on the photo earlier in this thread.

I am not sure how the CLS and/or A7 don't compete with the GC, they are the same size vehicles, or is BMW saying the luxury inside the GC is much better? I find that hard to believe especially since Nappa Leather isn't standard.

I am a BMW fan, like the looks of the GC, but would never buy one over the CLS AMG. I guess I don't understand why BMW wouldn't have targeted the Audi A7 and Mercedes CLS 550 on this, why target Porsche? Should have built the 8 series again if you wanted to do that
