Cool 2012 6 series Coupe Production Glass Panoramic Roof Confirmed

BIMMERPOST NEWS
2012 6 series Coupe Shows Production Glass Panoramic Roof

COMMENTS

Although we have already seen a completely uncovered production 6-series coupe, these spy photos confirm that the upcoming production 2012 6-series coupe will feature a glass panoramic roof! A beautiful glass panoramic roof has been featured on the 6-series concept car, but these photos confirm that the glass greenhouse will indeed make it to production. The production glass top, however, appears to only extend back until the B-pillar and does not encompass the entire roof as seen on the concept coupe.

Having been inside the concept coupe, we can say that the glass roof provides for not only a beautiful look, but also a more spacious feeling inside the coupe, which reduces any claustrophobic feeling - particularly for rear seat passengers. We have posted some photos of the concept glass roof for reference.

Another detail which is clearly seen is the integration of the seat belt into the seat shoulder instead of the use of a seatbelt caddy as in the E92 3-series coupe. This particular model is a 650i which houses the same 4.4L twin turbo V8 as in the 550i and 750i that is good for a little over 400HP - full specifications here. The new 6-Series coupe will be debuting at the Geneva Autoshow this spring (March 2011), and will come in both a 640i and 650i variants.

Looks like a tilt able glass roof only such as the one in the previous generation.

I prefer Mercedes Benz sliding panoramic roofs . . .

How is this roof any different than the current glass panoramic roof used in the E63 6 series?

love the tape that we've been seeing for months now...trying to confuse us into thinking it was a folding hardtop. this pictures clearly shows that it was just black tape

Wow, surprised there going with the same non retracting roof as the current 6. I didn't realize that was the case when I ordered my car and it was a big let down to say the least when I realized that i could only tilt the moonroof up! I wonder how many people will go through that same filthy feeling when they discover the bad news. Guess that's what you get when you dont go for the convertible purchasing a two door of this size. (coupe is sexier I know)

Depends on whether or not they ask what it does or actually try it out before placing their order .
