Why is it that every time someone posts pictures of their exotic cars or house or other stuff people have to get so skeptical about it? Either the guy owns this all and is passionate about it, and wants to share the passion with everyone else (like people post their E90 pics and it's all good). Or he doesn't own it; he's a photographer (example) and he's showing off someone else's property to prove himself. To who? Clearly there are no clear advantages of the second option.

Valid. RE my post. The only reason I went off a bit was because of the language he gave the other member. "GFY" "GFY". I mean come on, is that any way to act? More so of a question coming from a supposed successful grown man. If that is acceptable decorum for a new or any member then Houston we have a problem. I envy no man, sorry no jealousy here mate. If it is indeed his, then job well done. Let's just try and be civil . Enjoy the day. Last edited by gonzo; 07-13-2010 at 05:19 AM. |

I used to kinda of be like this and I'll admit I liked seeking attention. My dad had really nice cars, like better than the caliber of cars posted here. But looking back on it now it kind of made me sick. "Look at me! My dad has super nice cars! I'm so cool! Acknowledge me!" That was what I wanted and how I felt. But in the end, it only got me into trouble since most people said that I was full of shit, were jealous, or just ended up hating me more. The amount positive people who I wanted to share the passion of awesome cars with were just too little. It took too long for me to realize that telling people what cars my dad had or posting up pics of his cars did me absolutely no good accept momentarily satisfying my crave for attention. With that satisfaction also came a lot of negative remarks directed at me. I must say at lot of that hurt. So if the guy is telling the truth cut him some slack and just enjoy the pics. But if he's craving attention then he shouldn't be making threads like these at all. And I must admit, after looking at all these threads the OP's made about his Ferraris, his house, and his personal car wash, it does feel a bit like attention seeking thought I'm not accusing the OP of anything. It just feels a bit like attention seeking, because this is something I would have done in the past...

I am still wondering ... Why is it the Ferrari has wheel gap like a Ford Mustang but no one ever lowers a Ferrari?

Yeah makes sense ... I just find it funny how the first thing everyone says to do to a car is usually drop it but we all let it slide with Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo's, etc.

Or just send it to a proper shop. Lowering a Ferrari is basically the same process as most any other car.

Either all the young members on this forum are incredibly smart or incredibly lucky with the stock market! Every time we see someone young who owns a BMW on this forum or some nice car and someone asks how they make their money the answer is always the stock market. I should have played the stock market when I was 18, I'd have a Bugatti by now!

Why not just start the thread with the truth. Why not simply lay out all the cards from the beginning. There's nothing wrong with being from a wealthy family. There's nothing wrong with posting pics of cars owned by a member of the family. If people would just be a bit more honest from the start, then all would be fine.
Why not say, "here are pictures of my father's cars at our house," and just go from there? It's disingenuous to imply otherwise. We're all car enthusiasts and enjoying looking at cars no matter who owns them or what the circumstances might be. I think that's where it gets out of hand. There are a lot of very young kids on this forum. Part of why it gets out of hand is due to a certain level of maturity. If the OP would have started off being open and not attempting to make something appear otherwise, then we wouldn't have had some of these responses. And the OP wouldn't have had to get angry and lash out at those responses. I'm probably much older than most people here and work in an industry that is filled with very wealthy people. The irony is that none of those people I work with need to advertise their position and any of their material belongings. The wealthier they are, the less they have to prove it. So let's stop with the "look at me" attempts and instead focus on cars. And that can only happen when people who start threads like these have the integrity to be open and truthful from the very beginning. I'm sure the OP's father would have taken a completely different approach. He doesn't need to show off anything to anybody or prove anything to anybody. He realizes there's no point in that. And that's the difference between actually owning something and pretending to own something. |
