2016 headlights

I have a question. Do the 2016 headlights fight on the 2013-2015 models?

Physically they should. The wiring and control modules are totally different. Needs new FRM, CAN3 data bus, and FLE ECU's.

Oh ok, I saw a 2016 M6 grand coupe in sam marino blue the other day and I actually liked the way the headlights look better on the new models. If I were to get an older model I'd swap the headlights!!!

$5k or more in parts and 10 - 12 hours of labor just to swap LED for LED. Not a cheap or easy job.

If you have the non LED headlights, would probably be worth it, otherwise, I can think of other mods to spend the $$$ otherwise.

Yep - definitely look better to me but I would not upgrade to get them. IE - the 2013 spec lights do date the look of the car a bit but not enough to justify replacing them imo.

I've seen the 2016 headlights on ebay for $689 a piece I think? There's more to buy besides the headlights?

What other parts would I have to get that would equal to 5k?

Garage List
I would save the money and buy a performance mod or nice watch instead
nothing wrong with the original headlights. each has its own character.

I doubt $689 include any of the LED modules or FLE control units. Then the FRM (Footwell Control Module) needs to be a 04.2015 or later version, rewire of the lighting circuits (they won't just plug in), addition of CAN3 Bus Network (Pre LCI only has LIN), and a lot of programming and coding. Any official software updates will become an issue as the Master Build Date will have to be changed and will cause other modules in the car to be deemed incompatible. Used modules present another issue as they cannot be wiped clean. If the battery ever goes low enough or is disconnected, the modules will boot off of the non-volatile memory which will contain the original vehicle info and be rejected by CAS. The lights will then need to be reinitialized before they'll operate.

I have the PreLCI lights 2015 it for some reason AND I SEEM TO BE THE one I like mine way more and I like the completeness of light cycle! The new one more swooping but unfinished business look as if anything on something outside the LED lights to finish it for you

I know I may not make much sense but that's how I feel

What I really like about new LCI is the new 10.2 inch screen inside the cabin as of its like my X5 now

I agree, I like the shape of the LCI lights but don't like the unfinished angel eyes when lit.

I fitted the new iDrive screen to my car. It's a straight swap. Do a search and you'll see my post about it with the part numbers needed. All in cost me £250 and I sold my old screen for £160 so cost to change was £90. Well worth it.
