I came from a 2014 550xi and jumped into a 2013 M6 and I love it!! Grabbed I still have my 550xi

I prefer driving the 550xi for quick daily drives or just around town. The M6 can do it but does not seem as practical.

Are you serious ? LOL Boring swallen sedan with a generic interior and bad handling over a gorgeous coupe with a luxurious/sporty interior with an amazing sitting position, better handling. I mean to each their own, I like M5 but m6>m5 any day.

Coming from a sedan, the only mistake you've made was not getting the Gran Coupe.

Some have "///M" Envy ... sucks ...

You on the other hand have Choices ... and many more to come!

Enjoy the fact that you do have a choice, the ability to finance it, and have been able to enjoy cars with an amazing Badge on it

To many more future options and CRAZY Cars Bro!!! (and to all us on the M6/M5/M4/M3 posts )

No regrets ... just live the experience till the next bigger and better ///M badge (or AMG, Turbo S etc etc) comes along!

Why are you even asking this question ? You have not given enough information to properly answer. Do you have more than 2 people you are regularly needing to transport? If so, are they larger people, small kids or infants or some other reason you need to be using the backseat a lot ? If you do not need the backseat for other than occasional use then No , you have not made a mistake. If you needed the backseat for more than occasional use , you should have opted for the Gran Coupe. Whatever the reason though, to be even asking this question you have already answered it.

However I believe as a sedan M5 is better option than M6GC if you want to have fun. M6GC is too long IMO.

Sorry! I just re-read my reply and it kind of sounds standoffish or bully like ! I didn't mean for it to come across that way. Anyway both the M5 and M6 are terrific cars you are lucky enough to have had both and enjoy the M6 for awhile if it doesn't suit your needs/wants go back to the M5.

I see more lamborghinis than M6s. and thats a cool thing.

Nothing like the M6. M5 looks like a 550 with better wheels.

M6GC has the same wheelbase as the M5 but a longer overhang at the front. All cars listed as front overhang, wheelbase, rear overhang, length:

M6 2dr 945 2851 1102 4898
M5 4dr 836 2964 1110 4910
M6 4dr 945 2964 1102 5011

As such an M6 is only 12mm shorter than an M5, despite having a much shorter wheelbase.

Do explain? Im guessing the main difference is the 4 door vs the 2 door? or is it more of the ride height being higher and easier to get in and out?

I'm 6"3 the higher ride hight has a big role to play lol. Also the 5 series is a shrinking 7 series so it feels nice.. And the power of the 550xi (Mine has ECU tune) is wonderful! The way t delivers power makes it very usable, predictable and fun to drive everyday.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. Give that you have both a tuned 550 and an M. Are they really completely different beast still in terms of daily duties? AWD is kinda of a must have here in NY and this is the only reason I'm not so gung ho about the M yet. Would someone wanting an M be satisfied with a tuned 550 for the sake of having awd? My cars dont see any track days either. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks!

If you don't track and like the occasional foot to the floor then 550xi with the JB or any tune (except Dinan) will make you very happy. The car has some serious balls. And honestly anything from 0-100mph zone it's really on par with an M5/6.

I am in NY and honestly out of the 12 months maybe 2 weeks out of the year are snow ridden lol. Still in terms of practical 550xi.
