BMW 640D Engine Noise Please Help???

Hi.

Can anyone help me my car started making a noise from the engine can anyone identify ??

Drives: 640D GC and MX5 NC PRHT

Timing chain IMO, stop driving it IMO and get it on a flat bed to get sorted.

From memory there is two chains same as the N47 and the problem might be one of the chains being stretched or the guides being broken.

Worst case scenario if you keep driving is it jumping and writing off the engine. It sounds noisy and pretty bad IMO.

Did you get it resolved? As NINJA59 said it definitely should not be driven. If it's not the timing chain it could be a small-end bearing but, either way, the fix won't be cheap.
