Both cars are equally capable and well-equipped.
The key consideration between these two cars obviously is the necessity for rear seating, or more importantly, their accessibility. If the vehicle is mostly occupied by one or at most two persons, then the coupe is a viable choice, given the classic coupe roofline and wide sweeping frameless doors. Accessibility to the rear seating is extremely limited, more so than the 3-series E92 coupe. So, if there is a frequent need to accommodate more than two persons, the coupe is impractical and would not serve you well. Unlike the coupe, the GC has far more accessible rear seating. The front doors naturally has to be shortened to make way for another set of rear doors but if you have a frequent need to accommodate more than two persons, the GC is the way to go. It preserves the styling of the coupe and the added dimensions are mostly unnoticeable. Inside the cabin, the ambiance is a little different from the coupe. Little details like sconce lighting on the B-pillars set it apart from the coupe. In any case, you won't go wrong selecting either one of them. If you have any questions on any specific features of the coupe, feel free to ask. |

Ohh, how I wish I had the money to have these kind of dilemma's
Saying that, I think its a very personal choice of whitch one attracts you more. For me, I've always liked the coupe a LOT. But the first time I saw a GC at my dealers... It just blew me away! Such a combo of style, classyness and sportyness, all in one car. I think the GC is one of the nicest modern cars one can buy these days, apart maybe from some Astons.. Good luck choosing

I know I'm biased, but my vote goes to the coupe.
If you feel like you may need to have more than one passenger, then be safe and get the GC. However, if it's primarily you +/- 1, then go for the coupier coupe (just made that word up, I think lol). I have absolutely nothing against the GC and believe it's truly a beautiful car. However, I feel like the coupe gets points for being less practical. By this, I mean it is a no compromise exercise in utterly impractical beauty. It's almost as if they tried to see how tight they could make the rear seat in what is really a relatively large car. But I think that blatant disregard for practicality to give it a true coupe roofline, low appearance, and super long hood give the car real presence. Can't go wrong either way. Get whichever one you think will keep you looking back at it every time you walk away from it.

If you are keeping your 750i, then get a coupe. But if you have a family of more than 2, and need to drive all members frequently, save your hearing by going the route for the GranCoupe

Do you want more options or more (usable) seats?
As for me, I'm a big fan of the former.

At this price segment, I would not be considering c/p ratios..... Just get whatever that suit your needs and want and settle for nothing less! After all, money should not be a big issue if you are considering the 6......

Well, it does not appear to be a money issue... both the same lease-wise (don't understand why you would show sales prices??)
I like Southerns word of the day..."Coupier-Coupe" and I do believe it is indeed, a word...now, anyway!! Choice is yours and it's simple........ 2 doors or 4 doors??? Not our choice to make. We have the Coupier-Coupe (the 4 dr Coupe was not out when we got our 2012 model. |

If your going to drive your car alone most of the time or with just one passenger go for the coupe but if your going to have more than one passenger most of the time get the GC, personally I went with the coupe because I drive my car 99% of the time alone so it was a no brainer plus the GC wasn't out yet!

I am happy with mine. Gets parked at front of hotel 95% of the time. The 5% was because the hotel was taken over by Aston Martins.......

If buy the coupe again over a GC assuming I'd be buying now rather than 1.5 years ago. I have no need at all for the 4 real seats, and the GC would be no more exclusive in my region. I was in Houston a few weeks ago, and I didn't see a single coupe or convertible in 3 days, but I did see 1 GC. I'm describing a pretty small sampling of the population, but I found it slightly interesting.
If you don't really have a preference either way and your community isn't flooded with 6er coupes/convertibles, then get the coupe. Options are good. More options for the same money is even better. Most options are more useful than more seats (assuming you really don't need said seats).

Ok this has dragged on for far too long. The following is a Coupe owner's line by line comparison of the two and what you will be MISSING OUT on if you go for the GC instead of the coupier coupe (copyright Southern):
Ceramic Controls - luxury you can touch whenever you are in the car (instead of cheap plastic) Head-up display - no more taking your eyes off the road when driving, night or day (unless you want to) Shadow line trim - dude, it's an alpine white car. You NEED the contrast shadow line Contrast stitching - this was invented for this car and transforms it from a BMW to a luxury BMW (because you can) Instrument panel with leather - See Contrast Stitching. (Bonus: this is extremely popular with the fairer sex) Bang & Olufsen - how many cars out there have a premium audio system that performs for you before the sound comes on? (no, I am not talking about a tacky multi-colored graphical equalizer on a Kenwood head unit) All of these are unspoken intangibles currently enjoyed immensely by 6'er owners that go way beyond the spec sheets and price comparisons. We are talking about the emotional impact your beloved 6'er will have on you before, during and after each drive. The answer is obvious for the 5% diff. Disclaimer: None of these matter if there is a daily need to transport more than two persons. You are stuck with the GC. |
