Ordered a new M6

Turns out it's too late to order an '18 model and too early to order a '19. They might be able to get one of the last two allocations for an '18 but the dealership is working on finding out if the same order can be built identically in a '19 model. Doesn't seem to be any hints about the coming '19 models I can find anyway.

Cash. Although there's $2K back if BMW financed and they don't allow paying in full with cash, apparently the feds take an interest in stuff like that nowadays. So $100K down and finance the rest at 2.9% for 60 months and I can pay it off after 6 months. So that's ~$400 in interest to get the $2K offset. Traded in my 550i lease a year earlier so there's adder that also cuts sales tax. It's never simple...

Will have the Dinan Signature pkg installed when it arrives along with the control arms for a bit more camber. Dealership is an authorized Dinan shop as well. Makes it simple, don't really care either way, and warranty remains intact. Not going to have the badge installed though.

They can't not take cash..... you do have to fill out extra paper work for the Federal Govt.....but they can't require you to finance a portion of the purchase.

Was dimly aware of that. Saved $1600 this way though, sorry wasn't clear. Thanks for clearing it up.

That's correct. Cash is just fine, but for money laundering purposes they need to report it actually to their bank, who is on the hook for fed reporting

Yeah, and the bank'll have to report the cashier's check above $10K when I take that in to the finance dept. The war on drugs, working well there. *rolls eyes*

Nah, 4% is so little money I don't care either way, I didn't bother to negotiate. I've been buying from them for some time, and their race team does all the work on my track car. Pretty sure they can ask whatever they want in North Dallas and nobody would think twice. Center of Excellence, largest stocking dealership in the country, etc., etc.

But hey- if that's chump change to you, must be nice!

well, I'm learning for a lot of people, they have a lasting relationship with a particular dealer, and it's a give and take type transaction. Maybe he's getting some labor discount on the back end for his racecar maintenance which is ridiculously expensive last time I read about how much it costs to run a car per hour.

I know of enough people that just constantly finance/lease in a revolving cycle with a particular dealer that they consistently get a 10% discount on all cars, regardless of what they're getting into. But hey, it's not my thing, last time I changed cars (replace one with another) was 2010, prior to my M6 purchase this year. Last time I bought a 2nd car was 2015. And every time I sold a car it was a private transaction, and only 1 of my purchase was a private transaction. I have no affinity to any dealer or "relationship" I have to keep, that's how I save my money on motoring. Plus with M cars as you know, you chase the car you want, you don't just walk up to the neighborhood dealership and buy what's there (or order it at MSRP), if you care about money.

that's a separate rule. Monetary instrument purchases over a certain amount automatically gets reported in a certain way.

But that's them reporting you. And yes, it actually works very well in tracking flow of money. Banks and the fed has very expensive computers crunching al the numbers and looking for patterns.

A car dealership depositing cash to their bank is a separate issue. Car dealerships doesn't get exempt from certain cash deposit transactions, which requires the bank to report it to the fed. So they'll probably want to know who paid the cash. Not sure why it's a big deal why a car dealership wouldn't take cash...I dont' think a bank will charge them a fee for handling cash. Maybe dealership doesn't like paying for an armored truck to do a pick up once a week?

Yeah, I understand all that. Not much difference between a cashier's check for $152K versus $100K as a "down payment", albeit only for paperwork purposes really. It's a non-issue really, saves me $1600 to go through the finance and pay off in six month routine. Already have an active myBMW account so it's really trivial, just show up with the check and walk out with the car, easy peasy. It was interesting wandering into all this though.

They were able to get an allocation from one of the dealerships in their 20-group so it's a 2018 M6 GC, San Marino Blue, Sakhil Orange interior, black 343M wheels, std CF trim, all packages, & anthracite alcantara headliner.

Will add gloss black kidney grills when it comes in, Dinan tune and suspension work once it's past break-in.

Classic BMW, same place I got the current 550i and the 328i that became a track car of sorts. They do all the work on it, too.

Yes, ZCP. Not entirely sure what CCB is though.

I did put the std pics in the build-it pages on my BMW Garage for the time being.
