Ken - Thanks. I see you're Norcal. Are you local to Walnut Creek? I'll keep an eye out for you. There is also a Sakhir Orange GC that I have seen around lately.

I'm also in the East Bay and drop by Walnut Creek often. I'll have to keep my eyes out for that Sakhir Orange GC. I've grown to like Sakhir after seeing the color on an M3 and M4 at the M Studio in Garching.

Interesting how the buttons around the gearshift are different from the DCT.
Personally, I don't like the chrome surrounds, but its purely personal.. if it arrived on a car that I hadn't ordered it on, then I would expect the dealer to correct it at their cost. Looks lovely though |

I am correcting the chrome. The correct black surrounds are on order and BMW are correcting it at their cost. I'm not sure whether the mistake was at the dealer end or the Germany end but, either way, they're covering it. I'll post a follow up photo once it's done to get a before and after view.
Thanks for the compliments all. Cheers, Rob |

Interestingly enough, I tried pulling up the Chrome surrounds on the US configurator and it's not an option on there even though it is an ordering option. I don't understand how it got on the order.
It would have been interesting if I had gone ahead with the ED as originally planned as I would have arrived in Munich having paid for the car (a prequisite). I wonder if BMW would have been so accommodating in that case. |

Look on the bright side (as Monty Python would say), your M6 GC is the only one in North America with the burnished Aluminium trim!

So, just to round this off, BMW have installed the black trim that I originally ordered. Bye bye Satin Aluminum.

In some way that's a shame, it's no longer unique. But it does look better with black!

Agreed Richard. It did bring a touch of originality and I'm still in two minds as to which I prefer. I certainly like both. I did want to get it back to what I had ordered though.
And.....more stealthy now and just hit 1200 miles. |

Thanks Twitch. For mods, I think I'll get some tints on the windows and leave it at that. I may do something with the exhaust but not sure yet.
Now I've hit the 1200 the next thing to get is a radar detector. I'll probably go with the Valentine and hot wire it myself. Is that easy to do, do you know? Cheers, Rob |

I had a passport hardwired in my 08 M6. Didn't so it myself but I saw it done and it looked simple enough. In that car it was wired to the lights inside the cabin around the area of the rear view mirror. My guess is it can be done the same way in this car. There may be a thread somewhere in this forum detailing it.

How come it came with a chrome trim on the windows?
Aren't the M cars supposed to come with black trim ? I have never seen this option as an option. I love the color combo and the manual is a eye catcher!! Congrats Does it have Rev matching in manual when down shifting ? |

Love that Tanzanite! The black trim does look much better, but the chrome was unique.
