LED License Plate Light Face Off: OEM vs RDASH vs MTEC

This past weekend beside the Performance Grills upgrade and I also upgrade the STOCK license plate LED to some Aftermarkets LED…. The OEM light have a light YELLOW illumination to it and was too dim for my taste…

On my X6, I had the brightest Lights Plate LED available (MTEC). Illustration # 4
These lights illuminated the back road as I drove…. It acted like a beacon for my friends to spot me from far when we did road trips… Or when we got separated. I really liked how the light illuminated the rear of the car. Too bad it does not fit on the GC.

The MTEC can be plug with the existent F06 GC wiring but the casing doesn’t fit the place where you put them because it’s bigger and longer… I suppose you can modified the existent housing to put the MTEC. Illustration # 2

After searching and searching I found that RDASH had a set for the F06 GC… Illustration # 1
When i got them i immediately noticed that the only thing different was the casing… It’s the same light casing but they are attached to modified F06 OEM casing to fit the GC.. Illustration # 3

Now having all 3, gave me the opportunity to compare them all… BTW - I used the RDASH casing with the MTEC for the comparison. They were just glued in place.

The OEM compare to the RDash… Illustration #5 and #5.1..
RDASH vs MTEC.. Illustration # 6,6.2,6.3

In conclusion, I thought the OEM LED was too YELLOW and too dim. The RDASH was really bright but had a BLUE tint to it… And the MTEC was the brightest of the bunch and had no blue tint... It was pure CRYSTAL WHITE illumination… I decided to continue using the MTEC with the RDASH casing they sent me… The RDASH was sold casing-free to my friend to use on his F30…

I am always trying to go the other way...... Trying to make the license plate less legible for the speed cameras

This is nice but it is too bright, would be much sexier if it was less bright, something similar to the ambient lighting in the car.
