radar socket hot need it switched

Is there an easy way to make the socket under the glove box not hot or switched? I plug my radar in there and it instill on after I shut the car down. Nice spot for it because it hides the cord somewhat but I'm going to forget to turn it off one of these days and come to a dead battery.Thanks

Just found out the Escort 9500ix actually turns itself off after a few hours anyway. So I am good to go I think.
