Valvtronic Motors Being Replaced - pulling engine?
Hello! I just discovered this forum yesterday! Wish I would have know it existed 2 years ago when I got my M6.. I spent hours yesterday getting caught up on the threads in the forum. Great stuff!
I have had my baby 2 years, picked her up CPO with only 14k miles. I love to drive and drive a lot for work, and now have 59k miles. Only had 2 issues: 1st was turbo coolant lines replaced about 5 months after getting her. The 2nd just occurred. I got in car this past Saturday and the check engine light was on. Idling a bit off and when you started her it dropped to a low rpm immediately. So I took her in to dealer Monday and they called Tuesday and said it was bad Valvtronic motors. I will be first to admit I am not mechanically inclined, but they said they have to pull the engine to fix! I searched the forum but could not find where another M6 had this done? Anyone have advice/experience on this? I just posted my photo to best photo thread, but also wanted to post here as I just LOVE the SMB on this car! |

Update - I am to pick her up today. All is completed. Took them about 2 weeks.
I am a little leery after having the engine pulled and put back in - but gonna have faith that she will run just fine! |

CPO until Jan 2018 (and I am definately purchasing 2 yr extension). SA said it would have been an $8k job if no warranty.
The invoice says “faulty servomotor valvetronic for cylinder 1 to 4”. They had to completely remove front axle with engine and transmission, removed right intake plenum, removed servomotor valvetronic and installed new servomotor valvetronic. The SA said he has never had another M6 in for this and that it was so rare he had to search for the code for the warranty paperwork. She is running great now - no slightly rough idle or anything. I had that for a few months prior. It was so slight that I did not think anything of it. Now I know it was due to this issue. |

Wow man, glad Warranty took care of it! I'm almost at 50k miles and my warranty will run out then, definitely need to extend it if I'm going to keep the car. Will NOT run an expensive European car without warranty lol. My daily driver is a SC range rover and I'm SO glad I have an extended full coverage warranty, which has come in handy twice already.. Time to talk to the stealer!
