Question Weird noise when turn off car, rear side!

Hey everyone,

I've noticed this weird noise coming from the back side of the car after I turn off the car and get out.

Sounds like a rusty door squeak or rusty springs squeaking when I turn off the car and get out

Any idea what this noise could be?

Got the same thing, i think it's the exhaust valve closing

Hard to diagnose over the Internet, but when I park the car and exit, the noise I hear from the back of the car is the parking brake being activated automatically.

Mmm...I dont think its the brakes. Cause i usually activate the brake, take my time to collect my stuff, then turn off the car, thats when i get out and hear the noise, just 2 seconds after car is off.

The official diagnosis is a noisy exhaust valve... the valve closes after the car is shut off after a few seconds for noise control, ready for a quiet start-up.

If it's the butterfly pivot, you could try squirting some kind of graphite based oil onto the bearings. Or do what I do, and wire 'em permanently open!

Do you notice a significant difference in sound when starting up, idling and low rpms?

Slightly louder exhaust sound on startup. Can't say I've noticed a great deal of difference at low revs when it's warmed up though...
