High perf all season or winter+summer tires?
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to get a used 2014 M6 Coupe soon and it's coming with PSS summer tires. I live in the midwest so winter is real. Not tons of snow but definitely cold temps. What's recommended, summer tires for 4-5 months then switch to winter tires (I love blizzaks) or just get a set of ultra high performance all season tires and drive them year round? I won't be going to the track, just daily driving in and around town. i like the less hassle of just getting all season tires, but I would like opinions. In the past I've owned: 2011 335is, 2012 M3, 2011 M3, 2012 550ix. I used blizzaks on my M3 and they work amazing. thanks all |

I do summer tires on the m6, but don't drive it in inclement weather. We swap the wheels and tires on the X5M for a dedicated winter setup and it is fantastic in the winter.

I live right down the road in Illinois and know our winters. I am also shopping for an M6GC and I am pricing winter tire and rims, which are a must in my view. You will not be able to drive an M6 with all season high performance tires, like a Conti DWS06, with any snow at all. I had previous generation DWS on RWD e60 550 and it was almost un-driveable in snow. Get a set of winter 19 inch rims (408m) and dedicated snows, you won't regret it. For what its worth, I run PSS on my 550ix in summer and use winter tires and rims for winter.

Boston area here. You NEED to do separate summers and winters. There are no all seasons that perform nearly as well, and with a car like this you want all the traction you can get (both for fun and for safety).
