Not sure if it has been mentioned but they are redesigning the 6 series for 2017 and shaving off about 500lbs Im in a 2 year lease on an M6 now and fully intend on trading up to that when it comes out.

I just got my M6 in april and love it. Before choosing it I owned a c63 amg coupe and I test drove an Aston Martin V8 GT and a Jaguar F Type R coupe.

The Astons looks are amazing and lets face it its an Aston, but even though the sticker was cheaper than the M6 the payments were almost double with more down if you can believe that. Plus the Aston interior was gorgeous but the instruments are highly outdated and the navigation system is a basic bottom of the barrel garmin

The Jaguar is gorgeous looking inside and out, and has a beast of an engine. But it felt a little too cramped for me. I just wasnt as comfortable in it.

So next is the 2017 M6 or ill get a used cayenne GTS and pop for the 2017 Audi R8 for the weekends because its the most gorgeous thing ive seen since I fell in love with the 1999 lambo diablo Roadster VT when I was a kid.

The new M6 will most likely be the 2018. They just released an LCI, the chances of them coming out with a new version only a year after the LCI is slim.

When we were discussing it I was refering to an S7 with a tune is doing some impressive 1/4 mile times, as well as the RS7. There has not been any real tuning option for the M6 that unleashes the power the way the tuning for the Audi's have it. Meaning until recently no one has cracked the ECU for flash tunes, but I heard someone in another country has, also BMS is coming with a JB4 for the M6 soon, and then I think it's game over. You'll see M6's fully tuned running meth in the 750-800whp pretty soon here on stock turbos

You conveniently used the "new results"

Try these instead - from the link

2013 Audi S7:

2014 BMW M6GC:

Power: 560 hp @ 7000 rpm
Torque: 502 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm
Curb weight: 4395 lb

Zero to 60 mph: 3.7 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 8.0 sec

And yes, the trap speed difference of 10mph is a lot and yes from 60 the M6 GC is starting to pull away, but in the real world, where most everything is 0-60, the S7 does keep up very well with the M6 and is rated at only 420hp

And finally, that C&D M6 GC was absurdly fast. Faster than any regular M6 I've ever seen (which as you point out weighs less).

Those results say a lot more if you look closely. The S7 is AWD and of course it will be better at putting down the power from a standing start. The 5-60 0-100 0-130 and the 1/4 Mile trap speed numbers tell the real story and that is the S7 cannot come close to the M6. I was probably taking cars apart and rebuilding them before many of you got out of training wheels. The real world is not a drag strip, so 0-60 makes little difference when you are merging on to a highway or trying to pass when you road only allows you 1500 feet to do so. Out of the 39 BMW's I have owned over 20 of them were M cars. They were special once now not so much, the last one was the previous generation M6. My Dinan modified 650 is faster and more importantly handles better (I have the dinan shockware too). Where I live the high school parking lot is full of BMW's and they do not belong to the teachers. Never ceases to amaze me 17 year olds in 70K cars, but as you can imagine BMW is not going to get you much prestige (or even a spot in front of the restaurant) in this area. Aston, Bentley, Ferrari, Lambo, McLaren, Porsche, or even Maserati. I have owned almost all of them (I bought 11 cars from my local dealer Algar Ferrari) and as many as 40 of some of those brands. Still have some of them tucked away in my garages, though they no longer bring me the thrill I used to get from them. My little bug (Fiat Abarth with lots of upgrades) gives me more thrills these days, I just like the look people give me when they see the old guy behind the wheel. What I am trying to say is that it took me awhile to realize I enjoyed owning these cars more than I enjoyed driving them because driving fast cars the way I have to (most roads I travel have a top speed limit of 40mph and are single lane) unless I am on the highway which mean I get go 75mph for a couple minutes here and there. What I have come to realize is that it is a ego thing some of us suffer from, we need to know our car is faster, even if we never use it to do much more than go to work and drive to the grocery store. When I finally got past that point in my life, I thought damn I could not believe how much money I spent on cars.

Prestige comes in various forms. There are people driving much cheaper cars than BMW's that feel prestigious. There will always be something "better" than what you have, the key is to appreciate and treasure what you do have.

My issue is that I get bored too fast and keep wanting to move on to the next best thing, instead of realizing how special the thing I currently have is. I envy the people that get a car and can treasure and appreciate it for 8-10 years, if not longer.

S7 or any AWD or even rearward weight bias car can take advantage of getting off the line better while M6 or any RWD torque monster with front bias weight distribution is suffering from traction issue to take off, but the real world is not just 0-60... to me the rolling is more important and I enjoy smashing on the gas while driving at free way speed

According to the M6GC result, I'm not sure if that particular M6GC is too fast, but I have seen lots of 60-130 mph reports of mid to high 7s (compare to north 9s of C&D report) for M6 Coupe with competition package (the current one 575 ps and not the new 600 ps)... yes a bit less weight and more power...
Can't wait to see the results of 2016 M6 Coupe with CP

I know I'm a little late to this thread but a Tesla dealership just opened in Charlotte and I checked one out today....just for the hell of it. I test drove an AWD P85D. I must admit I was extremely impressed. The "insane" mode has incredible torque. I love my BMW but when my lease is up it will definitely be worth a consideration.

It will either be a 6GC, or an X6. Most probably an X6 next and then 6GC when the G platform is out.

I will definitely go with 650i and stay with it until series 8 come back. However, I still have my fiancée, who own a Mercedes E350. She loves my 640i but I convince her to not buy another 6 series and go with cls550 or S550 coupe instead .

I came from a c7 s6 which is basically the same car as s7 other than the shell. the audi felt a lot faster than my current 650gc. I think a lot has to due with the dsg tranny and awd. also, with the n63tu, the car feels dead after 5500 rpm and feels really slow from there to redline. the 4.0T in the s6 (even stock) pulls strong all the way to redline, never had a problem with traction and the transmission was much better. im really considering tuning the 650, im not happy with the power. I also wish bmw let us control the drive settings individually like the audi did and the M cars let you do.

I can't believe how "doggy" the 650xi feels. My friends 550 is far more "spirited". It has to be the way they have tuned the trans. The car handles great and has a very very nice interior, and yet, I think the S6 is a better car - with the exception of that DSG. That thing drove me nuts in stop and go traffic. Oh and the MMI turns the wrong way. Oh and their $6,000 stereo has bass and treble settings only. Still, it is faster
