Competition Package

I just tried to configure an M6 grand coupe in manual with competition package and its not allowing me to it.

Can someone confirm that you can't get competition package with manual anymore.

Looks like it's the way it is configured.
Also for M6 coupe you cannot select 343 Black with competition package!!!!
the only options are 601 M or 343M (silver)....if you select 343M black, the configurator uncheck the CP....This is funny

The configurator (or something in our computer software) has been screwed up for at least a couple of weeks now. When I was running different options for an Alpina B6 over the last couple weeks, the configurator would uncheck the Driver Assistance Plus package when I checked the Executive package, and vice versa. However, those two packages have been in EVERY B6 I have seen in dealer inventory searches.

I've tried restarting my computer and clearing all cookies/browsing history. Sometimes it works to solve the problem, sometimes it doesn't. See if you can find an updated ordering guide somewhere (latest probably is June or July) to see for sure if there is a problem ordering the two together.

P.S. I just tried configuring a B6 again. Same problem.

Edited to add: I just tried to configure an M6GC with CP and MT. Unlike the problem I've been having with configuring the B6's, the window pops up in the M6GC configurator actually telling you it is going to delete the CP, whereas my problem has been that it just unchecks the boxes without telling me. I was wondering why the car was getting less expensive the more options I added. So I guess you have a radically different problem from mine. Sorry I couldn't be much help after all.

Let me confirm your fears as someone who just ordered/delivered a 2016 m6 coupe w/ a MT.

No, you may not order the CP with a manual. Only DCT. Sorrrryyyy

So it means either the marketing strategy of BMW is to eliminate the MT soon or MT is not able to tolerate that much power and torque.

I assume it is the first in that demand is so low the next gen won't bother with MT. Demand for CP with MT is so low for the remainder, I assume the MT could handle the power/torque (it can handle 560hp but not 600?), but that it would take engineering time to get the computer controls to do everything right with CP and MT, and it just isn't worth the development dollars to synch the two for the seven cars they would sell with that combination. I was told no CP, no way. My 2016 M6 GC with manual has been built and is sitting in Munich awaiting my arrival at BMW Welt on Monday morning....

Congrats tab on your new car! Have fun in Europe!

I've been reading and lurking on the M3 board, since my wife and I will be doing ED next June for her M3. Here's a little something that you may be interested in: http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1142908

How disappointing that BMW stopped offering the competition package with manual. My lease is coming and I wanted to configure it exact same way.

It must have stopped after the 2015 models. I configured MT CP no problem on my 2015 GC. I love it but I don't have anything to compare it with as I've not driven a MT GC without the CP. I love the black tips as well and I also have the black 343's. I must have struck it lucky. :-)

A guy in Salzburg who buys lots of M cars and knows engineers at the M division says the manual cannot handle the power and torque of the new 2016 CP long term. His contacts at BMW told him that.

Makes sense. I have mine on a 3 year lease so I'll enjoy it while I can.

I joined a German-Language board to get ready for my Euro delivery, and the Salzburg dude works right near my hotel. He has a new M6 convertible coming next week (black on black), replacing a 2014 M6 black on black convertible, and he wanted to see the new 2016 (and the stick -- they can't buy it over here). So I met up with him. He's been getting a new M every few years for a long time.

Can anyone tell me if the competition package ride is that much firmer than no comp car? I need to make a purchase decision this morning. Thanks

This probably isn't that helpful, but in 2014 MY, I've heard lots of review talking about softness in the turns in the standard M6, but in my CP model it's very firm and solid and feels great in corners. So at least in '14 I think it made a real difference. But that's all old news, here say, and butt-dyno. so....

Been awhile since owned a BMW. Does the comp pkg car still feel "comfortable"? I have to choose between comp or not this morning and I have not even driven an M6. Will be my daily driver.

Yes, with the suspension set to Comfort it's quite comfortable! In Sport+ it handles amazingly well for it's weight.

The ride is good in Comfort and Sport, sport + is harder though, you will enjoy it.
