Rear side windows during top down operation?

When putting the top down both rear side windows do not go down completely - about 1/2" remains above the body. I have to use the individual window controls to lower them completely.

BMW of Sarasota is telling me that this is normal, but videos on YouTube and the BMW of Austin dealer both confirm that the windows are intended to go down completely. I'm sure they went down completely when I bought the car, but BMW of Sarasota did a complete software reload, and this is when my rear window issues began. Also, new rear window motors, etc., and now an explanation that seems far too un-elegant for this automobile.

Can anyone confirm or debunk this?

Thanks,
Stu

Assuming the 640 and 650 rear windows are similar:

This is what the last BMW of Sarasota service order says about the issue...

"Checked operation. Interrogated fault memory. Connected charger. Performed normalization test plan for all windows - operation the same. Checked lowered position of known good vehicle (2014 650i). Position the same. Vehicle operates as designed."

It seems nuts to me that the rear windows do not retract completely when the top-down operation is initiated.

Don't know how to say this but NOW MY CAR IS DOING THIS TOO!
Almost positive it wasn't at first but now she does. Exactly as described. When lowering all windows at once a scant 1/2" remains up. Pushing the all window control lowers them all at once the rest of the way.
How weird!

I think it has to do with the most recent software update. As usual, no one at BMW will talk about it candidly.
