Michelin A/S 3 on 20" rims?

Considering this tire as a runflat replacement. Michelin makes rears in factory size, but fronts are wider and have a bigger OD, 255-35-20.

Just wonder if anyone has mounted these tires, and if so, how you like them? Any clearance problems or rubbing? Pros or cons?

Thanks!

Those are good tires. We use the older version on our CL63.

You won't have any clearance or rubbing problem. I know a few members installed 265/35/20 tires and 343 rims with no problem

"GreyCoupe", I've been considering the same setup. Let me know what you decide and how it works out. I have a few months to go before it makes sense to replace my 19's and upgrade to the 343's and Michelin's. I've had those tires on other cars and they are great but I was concerned about the size as well....

Tire dealer just recently put them on a late build 2014, and reports that they lit up the guy's dashboard like a Christmas tree with trouble lights . He had to take the car to the dealer to sort it out. At this point I am giving serious thought to just running the Dunlops off the car and sorting it out then, as more tires in the stock size will be out.

Please be careful where you point your BS. I quoted the guy precisely.

GC. I totally meant the tire shop guy, not you. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Please do not take offense.

The difference between a 245 and 255 rear 35 series tire, for example, is the equivalent of 3.5mm of tread wear. The car wouldn't know the difference. Besides, the TPMS only detects pressure, not diameter. I cannot speculate what this tire dealer is all about, but he's either clueless or lying. The 255 will fit as would a 285x30 on the rear.

Car involved was not a six, and TPMS was not culprit, something to do with anti-skid or something. I didn't go into depth on it--he did say it happened on a very recently built BMW. Maybe they triggered something else in the changing process, but he said it lit up the dash like a Christmas tree, and required a dealer reset.

I agree on diameters.

He's been in the business a long time, and I have dealt with him satisfactorily before. He wouldn't sell me a set of tires on which I suspect he would have made a tidy profit.

"GreyCoupe" - did you ever get the bigger Michelin tires? If so, how are they on size/ride/clearance? Thanks.

Nah, I guess I will run the Dunlops off the car and then get 'em...

Check the tread wear of those tires, they are a very hard compound from what I remember. Might want to go with something a little more soft on a car that produces a good amount of power like the 6.. I just put on 245/40/20 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo's on the front and 285/35/20 Hankook R-S3's on the rear running 20x8.5 front and 20x10 rears, also lowered on H&R springs, the larger tires got rid of the annoying fender/quarter gaps. I couldn't be more happy with the ride quality, noise, and traction. Completely changed the way I can drive the car now in cornering, straight line, and canyons! Don't put shit tires on a great car is what I'm sayin

I have heard that 640/650i owners have to get the M5 343Ms rather than the M6 343Ms because the latter are too big. Is this true?

Correct! M6 343M is 1/2" wider than M5 343M and have different offset
