Exhaust Meister

Just installed the Exhaust Meister on my 2012 650ix Coupe. Removed trim tabs, pulled carpet out from under rubber seal on the trunk, removed the luggage tie down and unplugged the control line to the vacuum control and plugged in the Exhaust Meister and then attached the ground. Voila valves are now controllable via a remote....Then I helD the remote up to the homelink mirror and programmed the right and center button to open and close the valves.

I would be hard pressed to say it took longer than 10 minutes....$130.00 for a fun little gadget that really helps the exhaust note...I LOVE TOYS....

Thanks Jason at http://www.exhaustmeister.com

Tempting, but I am concerned that it will become fully manual controlled...... Can it revert to oem vacuum control without dismantling?

When you turn the vehicle off the valve closes and it returns to the normal position/operation. I have the center Homelink button programmed to open the valve and the right button programmed to close the valve. So basically if I am at a point in my day/life that I want more "noise" I press the center button and Voila instant growl.

It is very hard to pull off carpet in the trunk. There are tons of screws in the trunk.

When I bought the product tried to install it, but I did not figure out how to do it. I tried to unscrew all rivets at the left side and pulled it, but it was just sticked there.
No idea how can I pull it out, so I gave it to my bud drives 335 which has simple trunk carpet set up.

I did not remove the carpet, just folded it back to get to the left inner quarter panel. as shown in the pic

Thanks a lot man. I gonna go have a try. If figure out how to fold the carpet, will order it one more time before I made up my mind for real whole exhaust system upgrade.

It does't work on f30s. F30s' valve open always.

Does your exhaust have the valves - look inside the pipes, the valved pipes are towards the center of the car, you can also look underneath and see. My valve is right under the pigtail for the taillight on the left side of the car.

Hi
do you feel a big difference in sound when you open the valves specially do you hear the difference from inside
is it working in all moods like sport, sport+
I had c63 before and the exhaust note was phenomenal, and I really miss that in the 650
thanks

  • No major difference from inside but outside it is noticeable.
  • It does not know what mode the engine is in, simple open or closed.
  • It is not a m-sport exhaust but then again it was only $140.00.

Just installed mine, fairly simple once I figured out how to pull the carpet and unclip connector. I just ran the box to the cubby hole where the tool bag is. Works like a charm, need o program it to my mirror and test it out.

Can someone please tell me where the connector is for the ExhaustMeister to plug into in the actual left rear part of the trunk? I have sent 3 emails to the guy on the website from his ebay listing in over a week and no reply. The instructions he refers to on his website are unavailable as his site his down and actually has been for over a month. Have my trunk all in bits and cant get the thing installed as I am worried about pulling the wrong plug.

Terrible customer service from him to be honest, very frustrated.

To add to the above then I did, thanks to an M5 forum image work out and confirm what I thought was the correct connection. However, my unit is clearly a dud, does not work! It is all connected up correctly. Annoyed as it took almost a month for delivery to UK and I know when it works this is a good product.

I warn you all if anyone is buying this, you will get the unit delivered eventually but do not expect to hear from this guy at all if you have issues. He has now ignored 5 messages from me in the space of 4 days. I have a unit that doesnt work.

You could just do the exhaust flap mod. Very well worth it and only cost $7 and 15 minutes of your time.
