It's probably over 6 months now since I removed the charcoal filters and install K&N filters. Honestly, not sure I feel much of a difference. MPG is essentially the same as well. Fairly easy to remove the charcoal filters tho. Some guys from the M5 forum say they feel a little bit of performance gain.

I did it, one torx screw was a pita, but honestly the whole thing was pretty fast. I *feel* like I hear more turbo spool noise and maybe a little more oomph on the butt dyno, but I can't swear to it. I would do it again.

Don't use K&N as the filter oil melts with the high temps and goes onto th MAFs and fucks them up! Been told to use OEM filters and I do and still hit 752hp on the dyno so they work just fine.
BTW don't buy MAFs from BMW as you can get the same exact item for a 1/3rd of the price direct from Bosch.
