Million Dollar Question
Quote:
The 5GT is a Phenomenal package that previewed a post-bangle refinement in design philosophy, details and one of the best BMW interiors. Many die-hard fans in Asia and Europe among those who actually drove the model rather than just moan its design (same lot bemoaned the f10 over e60 but have now evidently come around... ) So what's next for the 5 GT EXPECT THE 3GT AND 1GT will refine the concept further and make the design, space, versatility and luxury more accessible. Perhaps the somewhat superfluous dual tailgate will be dropped to allow a more chiselled rear end. |

So many wagon haters, and all seem to be from the US...
I love it! I'm sure its to compete with this... Which, if I am not mistaken, was just announced or released a recently, lol... I love it! Maybe since the 5er wagon won't make it to the states, they'll give this one the green light to make the trip across the pond!

I'd love to see wagons (shooting brakes) whatever you want to call them, make a come back. The render on this 6GT is ugly though, the 6er is a special car, if BMW decide to green light this car, they need to make it more sleek and slopping in the rear. It needs to just be so fluid, I don't think the render Scott26 provided shows that. It looks like it weighs a ton in the rear, like it's dragging.

That render has nothing close to how the Gran Touring will look like...
I'm sure the concept will first be released in China, as the 6 Gran Coupe was presented |

BMW completely watered down the 6 series. Good job! Surprised BMW hasn't added vans to their lineup. BMW V1, V3, V5, V6...there's a market for them too.

I would buy it. Us europeans love wagons, and what's not to like this. 6er nose and interior, but more room than gran coupe. I could go skiing with this, and take all the stuff and family along. Not possible with the gran coupe. Something to replace the x5.

I guess there are a lot of people with money out there who can't deal with the idea of driving a normal 5er or 7er sedan, and want something "unique" .. ie, something that sells 10,000+/year! I actually find this new wagon a lot better looking than any 6er variant in recent memory, but then, I like wagons. IMO, manufacturers should just make their big sedans *actually attractive*, and then there would be no need for this "gran coupe" / CLS / A7 nonsense. |

You're dreaming. First of all, the 5GT is not the original SAV, obviously. I'm not clear on why you said this without irony, when the term was invented by BMW for the dubious purpose of not calling the X5 an SUV. Secondly, the 5GT.. well, I don't have to tell, you history will write the story on it. Suffice it to say, it's years older than the F10, and you're still waiting for the world to "come around" ... keep waiting. |

back in the old days when people would go hunting, they'd pop open the hatch and lay down their guns during breaks and grab supplies out. it literally is a shooting break lol but not sure why they use "Brake" instead of "Break"

Please stop, BMW. This fragmentation is not only diluting the individual model series, but also the entire brand. It's okay if you don't build cars that fill every conceivable niche market in the industry.

It seems like the 6 may take over or cannibalize on 5 series sales.
