I don't like what you chose but I love that BMW Individual gave you what you want. This is clearly an edition 1 of 1!

I now have my own liaison at M Studio who can help me directly with Individual configurations. It's amazing what they can do.

Just curious, did you just go through your dealer or did you talk to bmw NA yourself?

I got full individual on my 650 as in the individual package, exterior paint and interior color. And all I wanted them to do was put on chrome siding (that came standard) instead of the shadowline that came with the individual package, but after a couple weeks of trying the dealer told me it couldn't be done.

I am probably going to go full individual again on my next car so I am wanting to know if I should find a better dealer or just make the calls to BMW NA myself.

I dealt mostly with BMW NA. However, my dealer was extremely supportive/assistive.

I've recently heard that BMW USA is working to create some sort of mechanism/structure for clients to realize their customization wishes -- something that will likely involve the BMW Group 'Designworks USA' arm, etc.

"Exterior trim, matt aluminium" is a no cost option on a 650 in the UK, so it must be possible, it's just not a standard option in the US. The dealer has probably just gone through the configurator and found it's not there. Find a new dealer, salesperson or try and educate them!
