Wheel Dilemma Help Wanted

Hello gents,

My situation: 3 rims bent slightly that cause a slightly "off road" feel in my driving experience. It's passed annoying and I am a week into driving it this way. Dealership recommends unbending 3 of the tires @ $150 a piece.

Additionally, on my sapphire black 2014 650 xdrive the 2 back tires are preparing to not be of any safe use. Total expected spend for tires and rim repair is roughly $900 with tax etc. What I want to do instead is buy either the 433 OEM wheels with a square set up ( no reps because I don't think the reps have as much dimension to them) using the front wheel or should I instead buy aftermarket 437m wheels in 20" that are replicas from ebay.

The price with tires for the 437's are roughly $1500 and I have used replicas on my last 08 650 vert and I didn't have any problems so I am not arguing real vs fake wheel discussion. Now the price on the 433 in the square set up with tires is $4700.

My question is for a black gran coupe would you rather save roughly $3000 and go with the 437m which is a unique rim in 20" on a grand coupe but I think could work. Or say F it and just get the 433 because you know they would work. Even though you fear with the square set up that you will lose the concave illusion that the back wheel provides on the original M6 setup but is simply not compatible on your ride due to width issues. I have been going back and forth for days but I really appreciate my car I am turning 40 and am young at heart and want to keep some pizazz while not making my car look too altered.

Thanks for any opinions. PICS OF BOTH RIMS BELOW

OR

On car rough idea even though its a 2 series (437m)

My wife had the rep 437's on her last car (F10) and they were nice. I paid $600 for them and she banged them up on every curb possible and they stayed true, without a single crack. For under $1000, they're worth it. For $4700, I'd rather buy a nice set of forged wheels like HRE or BBS.

Greatly appreciate the info. Any pictures by chance? Also I get most peoples opinions and they say the 433 is the way to go but becasue I have an x drive I worry about the back wheel being less concave, so they may not look as good. Regardless thanks for the response and if you have any pics its appreciated.

Hi,
Why will you be running a square setup with the 433's? Is it because of the M6 offsets? OE M6 wheels won't fit F12, F13, F06's (too low of an offset). Here are pics of another F10 member running the 437's because I don't have one of my wife's old car.

Again you have come through. Thank you these pictures help. I have an x drive so I was scared of the staggered wheel set up. Those look really good on that 5 series. Did your wife have the silver ones like these or the ones in black like I am considering?

THANKS again!

staggered wheels are fine with x drive as long as the tires have the same diameter. BMW sells cars with x drive and staggered setups, including the 6 series.

Yep, you can definitely run staggered for a deeper concavity in the rear. Standard sizes for 20's that will give you less than a 1% OD difference are 245/35/20 front and 285/30/20 rear. You can even go a little wider if you like for fr/rr. Unless the OE 433's come in different offsets from the dealership, you won't be able to fit those on your 650, unless you go with reps. My wife had the silver 437 reps on her AW F10 and it looked nice. We chose those because she didn't want her car to look 'modded'.

I feel the same way on being too modded. So for a black 650 would you go silver or black 437 reps then?

Rep 437's for the win!!! Open to everyone's thoughts. Decided to go with balanced approach and invested in better tires and saved huge on the reps.

Apologize for the camera phone pic but you get the idea.

Those look great! I am in the initial process of purchasing a new to me 2013 650xi GC with less than 30k miles on it (hope its a TU model) and have spent every free moment of my vaca overseas researching 20" wheels to put on it once bought. 1st choice leaning to those same reps.

Question shelldog...if its not too much to ask, what width and offset did you go with as well as tire size front and rear? I am assuming no rubbing.

Thanks in advance!
Ari

Contintental DWS06 tires if you buy those reps the dealer will give you the correct tire size. I know they are 20s obviously. For $750 for the set of 4 its been a great choice and stll keeps the euro look. Move on this asap. Thanks for the compliment
