Does need a bit of tweaking in the settings, especially lowering the second lowest bass setting.

While I had that car I did test drive a 650 with the B&O, and honestly I thought the Dirac sounded better. With the Dirac it had really good bass, and you could crank it up to the point it was blaringly loud with no distortion. Now, having said that, I will say that I do not know much about high end audio, so all I can go off of is what sounds good to me.

Another question for you guys that know what you are talking about: I have read several times that the B&O is just OK, so what in car system would you recommed as being one of the best in the business? Preferably in a more standard production car such as higher end MB, BMW, Porsche etc and not Bentley/Rolls Royce as I will have no way of trying out the sound system in one of those cars.

Thanks!
I have the individual Dirac in my E70 X5M, not impressed at all (maybe it's better in the 7 series or the M6). It was a $7000 USD option in Taiwan and like I said in another post, the ML in my Lexus sounded much better and it came standard in Taiwan.

B&O in the M6 sounded better than the Dirac in the X5M, but still not as good as ML.

I don't know, so far my experiences with car audio is that big name and high price doesn't always equate to better sound.

I do have B&O in my car.. Sounds and looks good. But I do not think it is worth the price.
Better to put that extra cash into your home stereo system.

Sorry, but definitely not a must have. (Unlike full leather)

It's nice, but there are better things to spend on considering the quality of sound.
Anyone with common sense and a decent ear for sound who wants a audiophile-like setup would skip the B&O and install a proper sub in the car instead like bigbrian. That's if sound quality is really their concern and not just nice looking speaker grilles. The HK with a good sub to drive the bass would not be a bad sounding system at all, and if you don't cheap out on the sub, far superior to the B&O.

Ok, so I just got back from Munich where I rented an M5 from Sixt. Can you guys believe you can rent an M5???

Anyway it had a Harmon Kardon sound system and I plugged my iPhone via USB port to listen to my music. The quality of the sound in the M5 felt a good bit inferior coming off my M6 with B&O.

Back to back comparison of the same songs, from the same device and same connection and in my coarse non-audiophile opinion I say there is no comparison between the two sounds systems. B&O is rich and booming!

Anyhow, it was nice for my own self to confirm that in this type of car B&O is a great option!

I wouldn't buy an M6 GC, without the B&O system. Reason being, it's a high end car, should have the high end options. Also, I'm always looking for my exit strategy, in terms of selling the car again. Most buyers are looking to buy an M6 with Full Leather and B&O. At least what I've noticed in the secondary market.
People did the same thing regarding not getting a lot of options on the 458. It will bite you later on, when you try to sell. A 458 should be nicely equipped and so should an M model.

What many have not mentioned is that B&O is not a stand alone option. So the question should be, do you skip Executive Package that also includes power rear sunshade, heated steering, active front seats, heads up display, and front ventilated seats? B&O used to be a $3700 stand alone option and executive package was $5300. Now you can get executive package with B&O included for $5100. I think it's a no brainer.

Do you know which Sub bigbrian replaced his with?
I love the highs and mids from HK, but it really lacks the low end.
I had a 4 series loaner with HK audio and damn the bass was awesome.

WOW!!!

I updated the settings (Yeap princess has been out a whole week now ) as per the link!!! B&O now totally rocks!!! Amazing highs, lows & mids!! It now totally pounds!

The system is worth it ... Once the equalizer settings are optimized correctly!!!!

Ordered the 2017 GLS 63 AMG last week ... Will definitely add the B&O to that unit after hearing the system optimized!!!

Thanks for the link!!

Once properly set, the system is killer to my non professional musician ears!!!

The car just rocks ... Now to look at Dinan stage 1

Thanks for sharing Bobby_Drake
