Looking good buddy. Just been for a long drive in mine and on second thought it is quite quick . Re the vibrations check your tyre pressure as mine were way out and it has helped a bit.

When I picked mine up, the rears were 44 and 35! I fixed that but the vibration was after that. I'll get it balanced and see how it is.

Tried out launch control today. A bit wet but Jesus it's fast!

On further inspection there's no weights on the rear wheels. That must be it? Silly buggers fitted two new tyres too and forgot to put them on.

I coded a few things on my car yesterday, thought id take the opportunity to learn how to do it properly. So far just changed the mirror fold delay, turn off drive on door opening, remember last start/stop setting. Need to decide what else to do but it's actually not that hard if you're careful.

Just coded M6 active sound so will take it out to see what it sounds like!

Honestly, it's a lot easier than it seems. Granted, I work with technology everyday but I was still daunted by the task. Turns out it's really not hard as long as you press the right buttons. I haven't tried VO coding yet which is more risky but don't think I would need to anyway. Happy to help where I can.

Yes just got back. The M6 sound is subtle, but I think I prefer it. I get the feeling if the car revved higher like a petrol, it might sound even better in the high rev range but as it is, it does sound good.

its booked in for next month!

Problem is there are a number of stone chips that IMO have been repaired badly in the past. I want to get them fixed, I considered briefly a full bonnet respray but that's too costly. Going to try out one of these chips away types and see what they can do

Thing is if it is a part respray, it would likely to be extremely difficult to match the colour bang on - so the bonnet would look different at different angles

yeah that's what I figured. I think I'm just going to get them repaired the best they can be and then when it's detailed I hope it will not be that noticeable. It's not even that noticeable now, but I know they're there.

Please don't take this the wrong way, chips away are a false economy, trust me a full bonnet spray will not be much more than chips away, they use inferior parts, spray in the open air and will never honour there life time warranty. You can get that painted for less than £300 I'd bet, a car of this class should not be subjected to chips away in my view.
On the odd occasions I have used them in the past I've never been happy with their work and ended up gong to a body shop.

I kind of agree but BMW direct quoted £1000 to do it and blend with the wings. However, I've been out to look at it again today and done some work on the stone chips and to be honest it's not all that bad. Road rash is to be expected and once it's detailed I think it will be ok. If not then I can look at getting it sprayed.

You don't need to go to BMW at their rates of £140p/h, any good body shop will sort it, yes normally the tops of the wings and bumper will need to be feathered in, sometimes you can get away with just lacquer rather than painting the tops.

Another trick is to get a toothpick or very sharp tipped brush apply the paint to it and then make a blob over the damaged area, let it dry and then flatten it with a smooth soft cloth using polish being carful not to apply pressure and break the lacquer, normally works well, even better when the panels are warm

for most of the chips, I've filled with paint and lacquer, then wet sanded smooth and polished to a shine. Works well for small chips but the slightly larger ones aren't as good, but now at an acceptable level I'd say

Makes a whole world of difference to the active sound.

It's there in the ASD module where you would have coded the s63 engine noise.
