Did they mention if the seats were the 20-way comfort or the sport seats? That article crossed my radar the other day, but I haven't had a chance to read it. If I remember correctly, it was comparing the diesel versions of those three cars, so non-US spec, thus the 20-way seats aren't standard (I think ? ).

Just wondering if they had the same seats you have and therefore a similar problem.

I'll have to track that review down and give it a read.

Not yet - but my business partner collects his car on Monday - EXACTLY the same spec as mine, except he's gone for HUD rather than Nappa and aluminum over wood. I've discussed my 'issue' with him and it will be interesting to see how he gets on in his. Meanwhile I'll continue to 'fiddle' constantly in the hope I find a position that works for me.

But appreciate your empathy.

Southern6er - standard M Sport seats by the look of it.

Let me know if you can't find the article (Auto Express UK edition) and I'll try to get a version posted.

I believe this is the article you mentioned.

Sounds to me like they thought the 6 GC was the best but they couldn't give it the top place just because of the price. Remove the price from the equation, and then I think it would easily be their favorite going from their comments.

I haven't actually driven the 640i, but I just know I couldn't spend $100k on a car with the guts of a 3 Series. I can understand the 640d given the ridiculous gas prices in the UK and elsewhere, and, from what I've heard, the 640d out performs the 640i.

I kinda got off topic there lol. From the pics, it looks to me like their test car was fitted with the 20-way comfort seats...

Does anyone have an issue with the seatbelt pulling down on your shoulder on the GC? I test drove one and am considering buying but found it annoying that the seatbelt kept pulling on my shoulder. The car had the comfort seats but the seatbelt height doesn't seem to be adjustable.

Can't get comfortable

Took delivery of my 6A01 BMW 640i 320 ch Gran Coupe April 8th. It's now June 21st and I am still fiddling to get comfortable. Followed the advice below, but so far no effect. My right buttock still aches.

It may be because I drove an X5 for 12 years - so I am being patient. I probably need to reducate my muscles, I know that I am having to relearn how to drive being so low down.

I agree with the posts below, the seats I have are very firm. The specification for the car I purchased is "Exclusive" with option 488 - supposed to be the "comfort" seats with adjustable lumbar support. They really are not comortable - yet. If it persists I'll be visiting my dealer to see whether I need plastic surgery to correct the shape of my right buttock, a cushion from my wife's cupboard, another seat option or another car.

If anyone from BMW reads this forum, I am 1m86cm and weigh 88Kg.

I take it all back..

Guys it's been a long time since I last posted and I've covered about 18,000 miles now. Comfort issues fully resolved and I'm loving every aspect of the car. I've just driven it through France and Spain in 3 days and it was outstanding in every respect.

It took me several months to find a driving position that I found comfortable. Now I can go on a four hour drive without any aches. One of the other variables was too make sure my head was far enough away from the windshield so that I didn't have a 100% chance of dying in an accident.

I traded in my 128i because I could not find a comfortable position even after two years and I got tired of having to see a chiropractor to deal with a car that was fun to drive.

The cars from the 1990s and early 2000s did not have these kind of problems. You could just get in them and drive and not think about finding a good position.

I drive mine cross country regularly (for work/fun). Had a F02 750Li before this and I found these seats to be comparatively unforgiving. But with adjustment, and for the first time ever, using the lumbar - the seats have broken in just fine. The massage function has always been a joke to me. I drive for 20 hours a day when I'm going coast to coast - so I know my seats well.

What should I say....I would confirm your statement!

I am 191 cm with 107 kg (sorry, no fat...) and I had never a car that fits so well!
