My friends dad ordered a manual b/c he only drives manual cars. His last 10+ cars have all been manual. Outside of that, not sure why anyone would order a manual. Definitely no increase in performance.

I ordered one recently as well. The dealer was surprised that I wanted that option and mentioned it would be impossible to sell in standard inventory.
I personally get much more enjoyment out of a car if it has a manual vs a DCT even though it is slower and old tech. My wife is upset because she won't be able to drive it and was pushing for me to get the DCT |

Well my wife wanted to learned so I taught her on my first ///M back in 2002.
She now drives the car as much as I do. I think I am definitely going with a manual. Hope to do ED.

The 6er cars, especially M models are definitely a niche market. The standard shift puts it in a micro niche market when it comes time for resale. Rare..... yes, but you have ti find the guy that wants a stick.
Having said all that, this is our 1st automatic car... ever!! We both love the 8 spd power band. |

I do think that the rare manual M6 will hold value very well since most M6GC are DTC. Very few people will be able to find a manual M6 when they end production of this beast.

Manual driving is an addiction. It's never about the 0.001 second slower performance, it's how live you feel controlling each gear with right hand and both feet
Other than the 640, I have 3 manual Japanese cars that give me pleasure every time I pilot them. A manual M6GC is just an extension to the best driver's M5 ever, the E39 M5 |

I just placed my order on a manual. Ever dealer I called to get pricing was shocked that I wanted a manual. Some where asking for a $5k non-refundable deposit. They said this will never sell on the lot!!!

Think about it. It will be so rare to find a manual M6. Enjoy what you like driving. For that price I am getting exactly what I want.

If I ever got a M6GC, I think I would go manual. Never done manual before, but willing to learn. Both parents know and never taught me, but friends will.
This is the only manual car I'd dream of owning.

Not too many years ago everything I bought had a manual transmission, I totally agree with the 'driver involvement' or fun factor. Simple truth is that technology has passed up manual transmissions, at least from a performance point of view.
You can really do things differently with the DCT, not the least of such is full time left foot braking, ... starting to sound a little F1 like. |

It's so hard to sell a used car now anyway, what the heck, go for it, if you want it. I always get beat up on selling or trading in my used cars, they are always immaculate, but never get what they are worth. You might get more since it will be rare, that "guy" that wants a manual tranny will seek you out.

I was reading that in Efficient and Sport modes that the car syncs the engine speed with the tranny. I'm sure that makes for a smoother and more relaxed driving experience when you want it.
