how hard was it to remove the front grill? Simply unbolt the top screws of the bumper and reach in there to pop out the tabs?

Not that easy, you could do that with all 5 series but for 6 series you'll have to remove front bumper cover

Not true. You can get your hands inside by taking the screws out at the top of the bumper cover/under the hood. There are some video tutorials available. It’s tight and you will lose some skin, but no need to remove the bumper cover.

I dont think so,I tried with two body shops that i know with myself on site, you CAN NOT pull them out at least not with two adults. Besides, I could't think how small are your hands are, unlike M5 there is not enough space for your hands to get in.

Can you share with me the videos?

I think I know what you're talking about and it was the same on my M3. Basically, you removed the screws on top that connects the black rubber/plastic trim into the top of the bumper. After doing that, you can pry and pull the top of the bumper forward, and create a crevasse in which you can slide you hands and wrist through.

When your hands are in, you use your fingers to push out the tabs one at a time. Push out the bottom ones first and then the side and then the top. Once all the tabs are pushed out, you just pull the grill and it comes out.

This is the M3, but it's basically a similar crevasse you're creating on the M6 too, correct? Where his thumb is, it's where you stick your hand/wrist through:

edit: actually I found the video on the 650 GC, should be the same procedure:

Well, I did it, by myself, and my hands are about a size 10, so average to slightly above average size. Watch the video posted below. It isn't fun and it isn't easy, but it is absolutely do-able, as multiple people on this site have proven.

if you have M-sport rear bumper the only thing you need in order to fit the diffuser is part #51128052677
